The Yankees’ 1926 regular season ended with a record of 91-63, good for their fourth pennant in six years. They lost the World Series to the Cleveland Indians in the seventh game when Babe Ruth was caught stealing second in the bottom of the ninth. Nevertheless, it was another stellar campaign for Yanks and set the stage for a monumental '27 season. This OAL (Ban Johnson) baseball holds 29 signatures including Hall of Famers Lou Gehrig 6/10), Earle Combs, Waite Hoyt, Tony Lazzeri, Herb Pennock and manager Miller Huggins. The large, ever-elusive autograph of pitcher Urban Shocker, who died in 1928, graces the sweet spot alongside a clubhouse Babe Ruth, making this ball a super rare species in spite of the genuine nature of Babe's autograph. Other notables include Mark Koenig, Bob Meusel, Joe Dugan, Bennie Bengough, Bob Shawkey, Aaron Ward, Pat Collins, Myles Thomas, "Sad" Sam Jones, Charley O'Leary (coach), Fred Merckle, Dutch Ruether, Walter Beall, Make Gazella, Herb McQuaid, Hank Severeid, Bill Skiff, Spencer Adams, Garland Braxton and more. Ball condition is VG-EX (soiling) and overall autograph strength is around 5-6/10 in black ink.
