The 1926 Navy Midshipmen football team represented the United States Naval Academy in the 1926 college football season. The Midshipmen were coached by Bill Ingram in his first year and finished the season undefeated with a record of 9–0–1. Although Alabama and Stanford were named the 1926 national champion by most selectors, the 1926 Navy team was named as the national champion under Boand and Houlgate Systems.

This lot features the 1926 Jessop Trophy that represented Navy’s 11th Naval District Football Championship that season. The unusually designed trophy includes a wide wooden base that stretches 18 inches wide upon which sits a figural silver plated football that is engraved with “JESSOP TROPHY 11th NAVAL DISTRICT FOOT BALL CHAMPIONSHIP.” Tarnishing of the football and its stand are evident, but the text remains easy to read. On the left side of the trophy base is a two-tiered wooden elevation with a metal figural quarterback about to unleash a pass downfield. The trophy weighs 14 pounds.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the San Diego Hall of Champions.
