From 1926 to 1943, the USC Trojans football team produced 10 outstanding All-America selections. In 1943, the All America Board of Football produced an impressive (and heavy) bronze wall plaque honoring the 10 Trojans chosen for the elite gridiron honor. Those 10 players, who each have their names engraved on the bronze plaque, are: Morton Kaer, 1926; Jesse Hibbs and Morley Drury, 1927; Francis Tappaan, 1929; Erny Pinckert, 1930; John W. Baker and Gaius “Gus” Shaver, 1931; Ernest Smith, 1932; Harry Smith, 1938 and ’39; and Ralph Heywood, 1943. The plaque, which measures 18” wide by 22” high, weighs an eye-popping 14 pounds.
Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
