The National League celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Feb. 2, 1926, as a spectacular array of baseball legends descended upon Manhattan's Hotel Astor. Dozens of baseball dignitaries were in attendance. The gold medallion is engraved in blue with "1876-1925 National League Golden Jubilee." The rear side of the pass is stamped with "LAMBERT BROS MAKERS NEW YORK" denoting the manufacturer. The pass was designed to be saved as a special keepsake by its recipients and we can recall only seeing a couple of examples of these ever offered in years past.
Fred Claire was a longtime member of the Dodgers front office. He was the general manager of the team from 1987 to 1998. After a dismal 1987 season, Claire built the team into a contender overnight. After acquiring players like Kirk Gibson, the Dodgers won the 1988 World Series over the heavily favored Oakland A's in just five games. A portion of the proceeds from each of Claire's items in this auction will go to the City of Hope.
