Even at 37, the "Big Train" was roaring down the tracks. Walter Johnson tallied a 20-7 record during the regular season, then tacked on two more victories and a 2.08 ERA in the World Series. Meanwhile, journeyman infielder Joe "Moon" Harris came out of nowhere in October to steal the show offensively, batting .440 with 11 hits, 5 runs, 2 doubles, 3 home runs and 6 RBI. But alas, the Senators came up short. They were denied back-to-back championships as the Pittsburgh Pirates usurped Game 7 and, with it, the throne. Johnson is joined by the likes of Bucky Harris, Goose Goslin, Sam Rice and Stan Coveleski in this attractive team shot produced by the Washington Photo Service. The perimeter of the 11" x 16" depiction has a period rough cut, though in a charming rather than negative way, and seemingly as-issued. It's almost as if the borders were originally cut with a slightly serrated blade. The central image area is unflawed and features phenomenal resolution and contrast. Framed to measure 14-1/2" x 19-1/2".
