On July 26, 1924, the Southern Counties Amateur Swimming Association presented a swimming meet between the British Empire and the United States of America at Harrow on the Hill, an affluent area north west of London. This item is the eight-page program (6” wide by 8” high) that went along with that swimming meet that has been signed in black on the inside and back covers by 24 participants from that competition including eight swimming Hall of Famers: Duke Kahanamoku, Johnny Weissmuller, Bob Skelton, Clarence Pinkston, Wally O’Connor, Harold Fern, John Faricy and Sybil Bauer {Bauer died in 1927 at the age of just 22. At one time she held all existing backstroke records for women and was the holder of 8 national and world records at the time of her death and was engaged to Ed Sullivan (who then was a young writer). Signatures are mostly bold and legible and the program itself is in excellent condition.
