Dated October 31, 1922, this rare Ty Cobb signed large format personal check coincides with the Detroit Tiger legends reign as baseball’s most fearsome batsman. Cobb’s vintage steel tip pen black ink signature rates 8-9/10. A stunning multi-color print image of the bank adorns this check adding a unique visual dynamic. It originates from the famed Waldo Moore check collection. During the 1920's, Moore sent stamps through the mail as an advance payment for a personal check (he would request in exchange for the stamps) which he asked to be made out to him for one cent-promising that the check was for his collection only and would not be cashed. As a result, no cancellation marks are present. Of additional significance is the fact that Cobb signed this check the very month he completed his last .400 season-batting .401 for the year. The check shows three vertical folds and a few spots of vintage tape residue on back from being in an album at one time.

Includes a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
