This is an exceptionally early Honus Wagner check dating from the very first year following his retirement as a player. Wagner checks are far rarer than Cobb or even Ruth checks, with just a small number discovered and released by the Wagner family. Dated August 24, 1918, this scarce large format Honus Wagner signed check features a very strong 9/10 looking black ink steel tip pen signature, only slightly affected by a couple of cancellation holes on the "J" in John and his middle initial "H". The check itself is in very nice condition.
