Commemorative long format photograph of the J.C. Rhodes baseball team vs. the Boston Braves who were in the National League at the time. The photo was taken October 8, 1920 at Sargent's Field in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The Braves line-up that day were Powell cf, Sullivan lf, Cruise rf, Holke 1st base, Wilson 3rd base, Maranville ss, Ford 2nd base, Gowdy c, McQuillan P, Scott P., Eayrs p. "Rabbit" Maranville was from New Bedford. The day was proclaimed "Maranville Day" in New Bedford. The game ended in a 3-0 Braves victory. New Bedford was held to 1 hit. Sepia-toned panoramic photo is 48-by-8 inches presents Excellent but has some of the cracking typical to large horizontal photos.
The 1917 Cubs team panoramic is from spring training in Pasadena, Calif., and is unusual in the sense that roughly one half of the 42-by-8-inch panoramic is in significantly better condition than the other. The left side of the photo has some real tearing on the bottom and a good deal of staining and even image loss on the same side, enough to obscure some of the players pictured, while the right side is almost problem free relative to its counterpart. The 1917 Cubs included such names as Al Demaree, Cy Williams, Fred Merkle, Hippo Vaughn, Larry Doyle, Dutch Reuther, Vic Aldredge, Bob O'Farrell, et al.
