Ancient original Type I photograph of Jeff Pfeffer, who pitched 13 years in the big leagues primarily with the Brooklyn Robins. He finished with a 158-112 record and a 2.77 ERA. Easily his best season was 1916 when this image was taken. That year, he went 25-11 with a 1.92 ERA over 328 innings and helped his team win the NL Pennant. The image shows Pfeffer warming up in the Robins’ checkered home uniform, a super rare style worn only in 1916 at home (road version also used in 1917). There are four vertical pencil lines perhaps used for editorial purposes. The surface, edges and corners are in outstanding condition. The reverse is stamped “Sept 16, 1916” with Underwood & Underwood stampings and a 1996 Baseball Magazine archives sticker.
