Early 20th century original Type I photograph of Pat Moran in his first month as manager of the Philadelphia Phillies when this intimate portrait was taken in April of 1915. Moran skippered the embattled Phillies to the NL Pennant in his first season. The former dead-ball era catcher would later manage the Cincinnati Reds to a notorious World Series title over the Black Sox in 1919. Wearing a Phillies cap and sweater, Moran’s face and jagged teeth are in sharp focus. The captioned reverse has an Underwood & Underwood stamp and a 1996 Baseball Magazine archives sticker. Few 100+ year-old original photos can match this example in terms of its exquisite quality and mint condition.
