Unused 1914 panoramic postcard unfolds from a plain front to reveal a breathtaking view of Chicago's New Federal League Park, Weeghman Field, home to the Chicago Whales. The Whales came in 2nd in 1914 and won the Federal League Championship in 1915. The Federal League folded after 1915 but Weeghman Field is still in use toady, under it's better known current name of Wrigley Field, home of the beloved Chicago Cubs. Postcard offers a view of the first major league game ever in Weeghman Field, between the Chicago Whales and the visiting Kansas City Packers, on April 23, 1914. Photo image shows actual game action between the two Federal League rivals. Panoramic postcard folds out from a size of 5 1/4" by 8 1/4" to 5 1/4" by 24". Due to the oversize nature of the piece there can't be very many of these still in decent condition still around. Copyright 1914. Published by Max Rigot Chicago. Some creasing at folds and bottom center panel but still displays beautifully. First one of these we have handled.
