1914 Cracker Jacks are among the most notoriously condition sensitive pre-war sports card issues. High-grade examples are incredibly hard to find due to their thin paper stock and the fact that they were only made available by insertion inside boxes of the sticky caramel coated product (unlike their 1915 counterparts that were also available through a mail-in redemption program). Finding stain-free examples can be extremely difficult. In fact, third party grading services seem to have adopted some measure of tolerance for staining into their grading standards for '14 Cracker Jacks as opposed to '15 Cracker Jacks. Arguably Ty Cobb’s most visually impressive card, this example is completely free of the staining that typically affects so many of its contemporaries. Cobb's batting pose image is crystal clear and rendered against a deep red background surrounded by clean white borders. The back is equally clean and flawlessly printed. Near perfect centering further contributes to the extraordinary visual appeal of this conservatively graded gem.
