Beautiful condition New York Giants press pin to the 1912 World Series between the Giants and Boston Red Sox. 1912 would see the Red Sox, led by Smokey Joe Wood's 3 victories, down the Giants 4 games to 3. Game 2 ended in a tie resulting in 8 games being played. Fred Merkle's error opened the door for the Rex Sox to win game 8 in the bottom of the 10th to win the Series after the Giants had just taken the lead. Gold letter "PRESS" in blue enamel at top front where pin connects. Blue ribbon reads "World's Series Brush Stadium Polo Grounds New York, 1912". Round 1 1/2" medallion below has image of a batter and catcher surrounded by the words "New York Giants vs Boston Red Sox". On back, blue ribbon at top reads "Whitehead & Hoag CO Newark, New Jersey". The back of medallion is stamped "The Whitehead & Hoag CO Newark, N.J.". Extraordinary early World Series piece.
