Very eye appealing 1912 L1 Helmar Leather of Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame outfielder Tris Speaker. Very difficult and unusual large premium issue made from a horsehide shaped piece of leather. Piece is fairly clean with one pin hole at the top center and a pair of small corners creases, each about 1/4 inch . Some lighter toning around the edge with a smaller, more noticeable area at the left of his foot. Leather has been beautifully framed to a size of 19" by 21". The leather is not mounted using any adhesive. In fact, to protect the integrity of the item, it is compressed between two pieces of glass and then framed, thus why it is so heavy. Heavy frame weighs about 10 pounds.
