This 1911 oversized hardcover volume is widely regarded as the best pictorial book of the period. Written for a young audience it is flush with 160 pages of quality illustrations articles and photographs. Fully entitled "The Book of Baseball - The National Game from the Earliest Days to the Present Season" the book was published by Collier and Son Publishers. The large (10-1/2" by 15-1/4") cover showing a graphic of a batter bunting in front of a catcher solidly marks this volume as a perfect period piece for display. The fantastic contents include abundant team and individual photo illustrations (with the famous plate of the 1910 Southern League champion New Orleans team - featuring Joe Jackson). The overall condition is about VG-EX mainly due to wear on the cover corners. The fabric spine is very tight and the interior pages are totally undisturbed.
