One of the most important works of baseball literature from the turn of the 20th century, The Book of Baseball: The National Game From the Earliest Days to the Present Season (11-by-16 inches), is offered here in remarkably high-grade condition for the inside text despite a front and back cover that present more typically as an item more than a century old. The iconic front cover artwork is still nicely presented, despite overall cover wear that is considerable and includes accumulated dirt and cover wear over the years, along with corner rounding and some light fraying. That similarly describes the back cover, but once you turn to inside pages you're looking at almost all that present closer to EX-MT to NM-MT. The dramatic pen-and-ink artwork "The Opening of the Season" facing the title page reveals a bit of creasing that barely detracts, but the remaining 160 pages are seemingly problem free and decidedly more pristine and unmolested than viewing the front and back covers would seemingly suggest. An important book from early baseball history in rarely found condition.
