Offered is a fantastic game used ball signed and dated by iconic New York Giants pitcher Christy Mathewson. The ball is of an exceedingly rare style with the year 1910 stamped onto it. Written below the signature is the date, October 17, 1910, which was the day of Game 1 of that year's World Series. Mathewson's Giants would have been spectators though, having finished second in the National League. The ball shows extensive use, but the sweet spot autograph in black fountain pen is impressively bold and clear to this day. Mathewson posted a stellar 27-9 record with a remarkably low 1.89 ERA in 1910, but New York finished a distant 13 games behind the pennant-winning Chicago Cubs. This ball comes with PSA LOA for the autograph only, as the other writing is in an unknown hand.
