A dazzling, crystal clear image of Detroit Tiger Hall of Fame great Ty Cobb in his prime emanates from this coveted green portrait card from the landmark T206 tobacco issue. Issued two years before Cobb had begun his incredible feat of 12 American League Batting Titles in 13 seasons, the cards superior color immediately commands your attention. It posseses snow white borders and a clean white Piedmont 150 back. All corners rate NM or better with the bottom pair being especially sharp. Centered about 50/50 side to side, but about 90/10 bottom to top. Overall, this card still retains the same uncirculated, pack fresh appearance as the day it was printed nearly one hundred years ago. This coveted Cobb green portrait features every ideal attribute sought by collectors of this landmark issue. Cobb's image is rendered in perfect detail with excellent clarity. The deep red background is vibrant and flawlessly printed. Full, even borders are bright white and end at four remarkably sharp corners. The Sweet Caporal back is quite clean, neatly printed and perfectly centered. The T-206 set has provided some of the most visually striking cards ever produced, with this superb, high-grade Ty Cobb red portrait representing its greatest potential.
