With his unconventional corkscrew delivery, Joss was able to get the ball across the plate before most batters even had a chance at seeing it, let alone making contact. Nicknamed “The Human Hairpin,” Joss still holds the major league record for the best career WHIP (0.908) in baseball history and has the second-best career ERA of any pitcher (1.89).
