Fine early handwritten letter on Hotel Victoria, New York letterhead from "Little Napoleon" written on Dec. 13th, 1903 during his second year as player/manager of the New York Giants. McGraw addresses a player by the name of Chas. Babb as follows, " Friend Chas., Have turned your contract over to the Brooklyn Club with Cronin (Jack) in exchange for Dahlen. I am grateful for your loyalty to the NYork Club and wishing you many years of success. I am yours truly, John J. McGraw". All writing and signature rate 9 out of 10. Letter shows typical fold lines and mild toning. Subtle areas of professional rice paper reinforcement are evident on fold lines on reverse to reinforce minor areas of separation. Letter has a fine overall appearance, though technically VG-VG/EX. A modern copy of a portrait image of McGraw by Paul Thompson accompanies the letter. Includes a full LOA from PSA/DNA noting an autograph grade of MINT 9.
