Attractive oversize 6" by 9 1/2" full color cabinet of New York Giant Hall of Famer George Davis. The Duke cabinets are among the most popular of all 19th Century issues. Davis primarily a shortstop was an outstanding hitter as well as fielder especially during this period. In fact he failed to hit over .300 for the last 8 seasons of his 20 year career yet still ended up with a .297 lifetime mark. The beautiful image of Davis is perfect having the look of a vintage color photo. The front and back are both crease free. Three corners on the front have wear resulting in light chipping. The upper right has about an eighth of an inch missing. One very light stain on the right colored border with some light wear along the same edge. Back has some age spotting along with a pair of 1" by 2 1/2" places where the cabinet was attached to an album page. All things considered another very rare and beautiful piece.
