Beautiful 1889 N85 Duke Postage Stamps near set (43/50) glued onto a pair of vintage album pages, probably sometime in the early 1890's. Incredible color imagery still bright and fresh after all these years, protected by being placed inside an album. One page is 11 1/2" by 16 3/4", the other 11 1/2" by 13 3/4" due to a piece of the page missing. The cards are lined up neatly, mostly 3 rows across. The pages are cracking and very brittle, as are most of the others from this vintage find. Only 4 of the cards have stamps attached. It appears that stamps have been removed from all the rest with varying degrees of damage, from very light to heavy, to the box meant to hold the stamp. Corners are still EX-MT to NM. Missing Chinese Letter Writer, Good News at Last, N. Y. City Mail, Pigeon Mail, Sad News, Who's That From?, and Zulu Mail for completion. The fact this person had so many complete sets with so many different cards leads us to believe that the original owner possibly worked in the company that produced them. Beautiful group!
