The results in the elections held in November, 1964 were disastrous at all levels for Republicans and in its bitter aftermath, Richard Nixon was the only national leader with appeal for both wings. During the 1966 campaign, Nixon worked hard for Republican candidates throughout the country and was given a great deal of credit for the Republican recovery in the elections. Nixon's one-page TLS, dated December 3, 1964 on his personal letterhead thanks a supporter of his recently unsuccessful campaign and promises to, "..do everything I can, to the extent that the demands of my legal practice and other commitments permit, to assure Republican victories in 1966."
Nixon would later declared his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination in February 1968. Letter and accompanying transmittal envelope show line staining from album mounting, but are structurally sound. Nixon signature rates 9/10. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA.
