Any Lakers-Celtics matchup is significant, but the unique things about a December 30, 2007, game between the cross-coast rivals was that the Lakers decided to pay tribute to uniform styles of yesteryear and wear throwback "short shorts." Well, the experiment only lasted one half. At halftime, the decision was made to go back to the more comfortable, modern style, "baggy" trunks. Kobe Bryant switched into these shorts on his way to 22 points and 6 rebounds, although the Celtics were victorious that evening at Staples Center, winning 110-91 behind a balanced attack from their "Big Three" of Garnett, Pierce and Allen.
Our consignor was a Lakers intern at the time and was occasionally given items from the staff and players, which he has held in his personal collection until now. These Lakers home gold trunks, with Kobe's #24 noted in black marker on the white tag, come in size 44 with 2" extra length on the Adidas tagging. They have been conclusively photo-matched to this 12/30/07 game vs. Boston and show appropriate wear. Includes Sports Investors LOA with the photo-matching details.
