In 2015, the New York Mets made it all the way back to the World Series, marking their first appearance in the Fall Classic since 1986. Twenty-four-year-old right-hander Steven Matz was brought up after the All-Star break and wound up posting a 4-0 record with a 2.27 ERA in six starts. This lot features Matz’s game worn 2015 New York Mets home jersey that he donned in Game 3 of the World Series versus the visiting Kansas City Royals. Though he did not play in Game 3, Matz did start for the Mets the following day in Game 4 and pitched five full innings allowing two earned runs with 5 K’s to his credit.

The offered white Majestic Authentic Collection pinstriped home jersey (size 46) includes proper manufacturer’s tagging on the front left tail positioned above an accompanying bar code reading “32 46 2015 WS 1” to indicate his uniform number, size and World Series call out. The 100% polyester jersey, which shows minimal wear, includes washing instruction tagging on the left inside seam. The front of the jersey reads “Mets” across the chest in blue script tackle twill outlined in orange with Matz’s uniform number “32” appearing on the left chest in similar tackle twill fashion. The back of the jersey, which includes the official MLB blue, white and orange embroidered log on the outside rear collar, shows “MATZ” across the shoulders in blue tackle twill outlined in orange with his uniform number “32” beneath his last name in similar fashion. The left sleeve is adorned with the official Mets blue, white and orange embroidered logo, while the right sleeve boasts a special vinyl “2015 WORLD SERIES” patch.

Includes MLB Authentication hologram (#JB 038017).
