Two sided handwritten letter dated 8/8/42 from from Walter Johnson to Mrs. Hastings from his farm in Germantown, MD. First half of the letter deals with farming with the second half reflecting his thoughts about the war. On prices he writes "Meat will be so high no one but the rich can eat it". Among his many reflections about the war he states "it just doesn't seem possible civilized people could go and shoot each other down like they are.....I sure hope we will never have to go through what so many are doing now." He further adds "I have one boy in and another will go soon". Large, "Sincerely Yours Walter Johnson" signature rates 10 out of 10. Letter written on both sides of blank page has vertical and horizontal fold lines. EX-MT condition. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA .
