INTERNET AUCTION NETS $2.3 MILLION
Pre War Cards (T210 Jackson $165,486, N162 Kelley $63,337, 1935 Nat’l Chicle Nagurski $66,354)

Lead an Impressive Lineup of Important Memorabilia and Cards Mission Viejo, Ca. – An impressive array of fine sports memorabilia and cards offered by industry leader SCP Auctions was eagerly received by hundreds of collectors who participated in their July 12th Internet Auction. The 507 lots in the sale generated over $2.3 million, exceeding the firm’s pre-sale estimate. According to David Kohler, President and CEO of SCP Auctions, the sale attracted wide range of collectors. Kohler stated, “The results from our latest auction were fantastic.  Bidding was spirited on many lots and we are very pleased with the results.  Like our last Internet sale, the number of new participants is a fantastic testament to the strength of this market.

At the forefront of the auction was an extraordinary selection of Pre and Post War cards. Not surprisingly, these categories yielded some of the highest priced lots in the sale, including the top lot - a T210 Old Mill Series 8 Joe Jackson PSA 2 GOOD netting $165.486. Other big ticket cards included a 1888 N162 Goodwin Champs King Kelly PSA 8 NM-MT - $63,337, 1909-11 T206 Walter Johnson (Port) PSA 8 NM-MT - $28,089, 1910 T210 Old Mill Series 6 Casey Stengel PSA 6 EX-MT - $41,902, 1916 M101-4 Sporting News #151 Babe Ruth PSA 6 EX-MT - $54,712, 1935 National Chicle #34 Bronko Nagurski PSA 8 NM-MT - $66,354, 1948 Bowman Basketball #69 George Mikan PSA 9 MINT - $52,107, 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle PSA 8 NM-MT - $91,470 and a 1959 Topps #514 Bob Gibson PSA 10 GEM MINT realizing $32,450.

Aside from the expensive cardboard, some other big numbers were seen in the memorabilia category including Christy Mathewson’s Signed First Major League Contract bringing $69,829.  More impressive memorabilia results included an Extraordinary Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Signed Baseball PSA/DNA 8 NM-MT - $34,473, Bear Bryant 1950'S Texas A & M "Aggies" Football Jacket - $27,195 and Ted Williams Game Used 1955 All-Star Bat - MEARS GRADED A10 - $43,998.
