Former New York Giants linebacker extraordinaire Lawrence Taylor was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999. Taylor is considered by many experts the best defensive player in NFL history. He was a 10-time Pro Bowler, a four-time AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year recipient (1981, ’82, ’83 and ’86) and won the AP NFL MVP award in 1986. He also won two Super Bowl rings with the New York Giants (1986 and ’90), and was named to the NFL’s 75th Anniversary All-Time Team. During the course of his prolific, 13-year career (1981 to ’93) of wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks, Taylor recorded 132.5 sacks.   This lot features LT’s 1988 game-worn, signed and inscribed New York Giants white mesh road jersey with multiple team repairs.

On the front left tail is a strip tag that reads “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for NEW YORK GIANTS” that is positioned above a “MacGregor Sand-Knit” size “44” manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent to that is an “88” year swatch. On the right inseam is a “100% NYLON” tag complete with washing instructions. A Gerry Cosby distributing tag is affixed to the lower right front tail. His iconic uniform number “56” appears on the front, back and on both sleeves heat-pressed and screened-on in blue outlined in red. Scuff marks can be seen on each of the numerals from various on-field collisions that were no doubt initiated by the one-man wrecking crew. His nameplate – “TAYLOR” – appears on a separate sewn-on white mesh nameplate that stretches across the shoulders. Customized ribbed blue-and-red sleeves appear on both sides and the underarm has been custom-fit to Taylor’s liking. Multiple team repairs are evident as no less than seven can be seen across the front of the jersey and around the shoulder areas. The jersey, which Taylor signed and inscribed ("56 H.O.F. 99") in black on the back, is slightly off-white due to multiple washings. This game-worn jersey is properly tagged and outstanding evidence of game use by the league's scariest pass rusher ever.

Includes LOA from MEARS with perfect A10 grade. Photo evidence of LT's signature and inscription at an autograph show is included in the form of a 5" by 7" photograph. Autograph is pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
