Presented here is a large group of the late Walter Alston’s Los Angeles Dodgers game and practice worn uniform items from the Hall of Fame manager’s personal collection, seemingly pulled directly from the clubhouse in Chavez Ravine and kept by his family for decades afterwards. All articles of clothing come in a Dodger Blue equipment duffel bag stamped “Dodgers” in white affixed with two pieces of tape as identifiers marked “ALSTON – 24” and just “ALSTON’ in matching black Sharpie. The seams and edges of the bag show wear, but it comes as-issued and problem free with the zipper and hand-straps in perfect working condition. All of the following pieces show varying degrees of wear.
Nine (9) blue stirrups including 3 matching pairs
Seven (7) belts: 6 blue and 1 brown
Three (3) blue mid-cut, sleeveless undershirts. All are Wilson size L with Alston’s No. “24” penned in black on the tagging. Each has a slightly different identifier on the blue wool fabric: one with “Alston 24” on front in black and again on reverse in white; another has “Alston” on front in white; the other has “24” on both sides in white.
Five (5) long-sleeve, off-white undershirts. 1) Wilson duofold cotton size 50 with blue durene sleeves and “Alston” on back collar in black. 2) Tim McAuliffe wool/cotton size 46 with blue sleeves and “Alston” on back in blue chain-stitch. 3) Tim McAuliffe wool/cotton size 46 with blue sleeves and “24” on back collar in black. 4) Nekconit Winsted thick wool/cotton with same color sleeves and “24 ALSTON” marked on back collar in faded pen. 5) Rawlings duofold cotton size 52/XL with blue wool sleeves and “24” on back collar in black pen.
Tremendous group of game and practice worn material from one of the greatest managers in MLB history.
Comes with a LOA from the Alston family.
