Willie Wells (D. 1989) played in the Negro Leagues and Latin America from 1924-48. Wells was considred one of the best glovesmen of his era and is widely known as the best shortstop in Negro League history. He taught Jackie Robinson how to run a double play. Some of the notable teams he played for include the St. Louis Stars, Kansas City Monarchs, Chicago American Giants, Baltimore Elite Giants, and many other teams.
He was a 10 Time All-Star and 2 time Cuban League MVP. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame several years after his death.
