Pete Rose won three World Series rings, three batting titles and two Gold Gloves but the achievement on the diamond that will forever define his major league career is his record 4,256 hits.
The late collector Barry Halper befriended "Charlie Hustle" while assembling one of the greatest baseball memorabilia collections ever.
After Rose broke Ty Cobb's 57-year old record of 4,189 career hits on September 11, 1985, Halper acquired the warm up jacket that Rose wore that night.
In huge letters on the red nylon warm up jacket, Rose signed his name in sharpie, dated it after the signature and noted the number 4,192. He also signed his name in full in the inside collar of the jacket and lastly, provided a signed note card stating that he wore the jacket the night he broke Cobb's record. He also, very fittingly, wrote "To Barry, My Friend and Great Baseball Fan". LOAs from PSA/DNA, JSA and MEARS.
