Walter Payton is known as one of the toughest work horse running backs to ever play the game of football. His motto was, "Never Die Easy," because he always delivered punishment to his tacklers before ever getting knocked out of bounds or being forced down. Payton rushed for a career 16,726 yards and scored 110 touchdowns on the ground. He also caught 492 passes for 4,538 yards and added 15 TD's in the air. He helped the Bears to Super Bowl glory in 1985 where they beat down the Patriots 46-10. One of the more versatile and all time great running backs, he would be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993.  Sadly, Payton fell ill with a rare liver disease in February, 1999 and passed away that November. His legacy lives on in today's game and he is often cited by many RB's as their source of inspiration.

Featured in this lot is a boldy signed Chicago Bears full-size pro line Riddell helmet with seven staats inscribed all in 9-10/10 silver marker. On the left side of the helmet lies Payton's autograph with "10 1,000 yd seasons," "16,726 yds" and "128 TDs."  The right side of the helmet is, "Super Bowl XX Champs," "9 Pro Bowls," "NFL MVP 1977" and "HOF 1993."  The helmet presents in MINT-GEM MINT condition and the autos are gradable (9.5 or 10). Comes with a Beckett LOA (A25828) and a Steiner COA.
