Offered here are three pairs of game-worn pants from legendary Dodgers manager Walter Alston, who directed the fortunes of the club for 23 seasons between 1954 and 1976, winning 2,040 games, seven NL pennants and four World Series crowns. He was selected as Manager of the Year six times. The pants all originate from his personal collection, a lineup that includes home pants from 1964, and road pants from 1965 and 1968.

The 1964 home pants have the appropriate McAuliffe tagging at the back of the waist, with adjacent flag tag with embroidered "64" with "Alston" and "38 26" embroidered in Dodger blue flanking the manufacturer's labeling. These pants reveal considerable game use throughout, including some staining on the back side. Both the 1965 and 1968 gray flannel road pants have the Size 38 Rawlings label on the inside right hip, with wash instructions tag alongside and flag tag with "Set 1 1965" and "Set 1 1968" below, respectively. "Alston 38 27" is stitched in Dodger Blue on the 1965 pants and "Alston 39 26" on the 1968 pants. Both show obvious wear but like the home pair remain as-issued and problem-free with no sign of alteration. This lot was part of the Walter Alston Collection in our Summer 2016 Auction.
