In 2001, Cal Ripken Jr. and his brother Bill established the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, in memory of their father. The Foundation works with at-risk youth and underserved communities across the country using baseball and softball themed programs to connect to kids. Last year the Foundation impacted over 612,000 kids in 45 states and in partnership with 478 youth organizations and law enforcement agencies. The goal is to give kids a clean and safe place to play after school where they will find positive adult mentors and coaches who will teach them life lessons on the playing field and in life. Toward that end, former San Diego Padres great and then-San Diego State University Head Baseball Coach Tony Gwynn was awarded on January 26, 2007, the Foundation’s annual “Aspire: A Tribute to Life’s Coaches” trophy. The impressive award, which includes a pair of crystallized shooting stars on a black base, measures 6” wide by 7” high.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Gwynn Family.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Tony Gwynn Collection will be donated to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The TAG Foundation is a non-profit, 5013(c) charity dedicated to creating and supporting programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy, educated, and productive citizens. The TAG Foundation was organized in San Diego in 1995 by Tony’s wife, Alicia. For more information, visit www.tagwynn2.org.
