The late Hall of Famer Tony Gwyn was selected to 15 National League All-Star teams during his 20-year reign with the San Diego Padres. In 1997, Gwynn was named to his second-to-last N.L. All-Star team. This lot features a combination of Gwynn items commemorating that particular game. The first items is Gwynn’s game-worn, two-tone brown glove, which shows game usage and has “Tony Gwyn” embroidered in gold across the thumb area. The second piece to the All-Star ensemble is Gwynn’s pair of game-worn Nike cleats, which boasts an elongated tongue on either shoe that folds back on top of the laces to reveal a specially embroidered “1997 All-Star Game” patch with the Nike black swoosh in the middle. The cleats, complete with six metal spikes apiece, show minimal wear.

In addition to the aforementioned pieces, the lot includes a commemorative Tony Gwynn model 1997 ALL STAR GAME black Louisville Slugger bat with gold printing that includes the city and state of the game (Cleveland, Ohio); his practice-worn National League All-Star Game dark blue No. 19 Majestic jersey (size 50); and an official 1997 All-Star Game baseball that’s been signed by 33 members of the N.L. squad including Manager Bob Cox across the sweet spot. Other notable signatures in black ink include Barry Bonds, Pedro Martinez, Craig Biggio and Curt Schilling. The practice jersey includes the San Diego Padres embroidered logo patch on the left sleeve and the “Jackie Robinson 50th Anniversary 1947 to 1997 Breaking Barriers” patch on the right sleeve. Gwynn’s name appears across the back in white tackle twill lettering outline in red. A terrific collection of baseball memorabilia connecting back to one of the all-time greats, Tony Gwynn.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Gwynn Family.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
