San Diego Padres great Tony Gwynn was a perennial All-Star. In 20 seasons, the steady right fielder was named to 15 National League All-Star squads. This lot includes a beautifully designed porcelain bowl (10” across by 5” high) that Gwynn was awarded for participating in the 1994 Mid-Summer Classic. This was the same, strike-shortened season that ended prematurely on August 11 with Gwynn leading the batting title race with a .394 average. It was the closest he ever came to eclipsing the magical .400 mark. In the All-Star Game, Gwynn went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI to help the National League team record an 8-7 decision. The three-tone (white and blue with gold trim) bowl has “1994 ALL STAR GAME Tony Gwynn” stamped in gold on one side and the National League logo on the other. The inside circumference of the bowl is decorated with a total of 34 baseballs trimmed in gold. In addition, this lot include a pair of matching black-and-white porcelain coffee mugs with each one sporting the National League logo in white across the front.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Gwynn Family.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Tony Gwynn Collection will be donated to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The TAG Foundation is a non-profit, 5013(c) charity dedicated to creating and supporting programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy, educated, and productive citizens. The TAG Foundation was organized in San Diego in 1995 by Tony’s wife, Alicia. For more information, visit www.tagwynn2.org.
