The late, great Ted Williams launched 521 home runs during his prestigious MLB career with the Boston Red Sox and it must be noted that he lost five seasons of play due to his serving his country in uniform. Can you imagine what his home run total might have been? This lot features the 1966 Hall of Fame inductee in various ways through an incredibly well laid out shadowbox presentation piece that measures 38.5” wide by 30” high by 4” deep. Utilizing a blue felt background liner, the shadowbox features a pair of 7” by 5” multi-matted portrait prints of Williams, one showing him in his Boston road uniform circa 1939 (his rookie season) and the other one showing Williams in the twilight of his career kneeling in the on-deck at Fenway Park. The crowning piece to this shadowbox is a perfectly centered and autographed “Ted’s Creamy Root Beer” tin sign that the Splendid Splinter made popular during his playing days. He autographed the tin sign in blue marker. In addition, the presentation piece holds an actual bottle of Ted’s Creamy Root Beer, as well as one of “The Kid’s” original Hartland statues. Other attributes to the display include a Red Sox stamp, three different Boston Red Sox embroidered patches, the MLB patch and an American League patch. The shadowbox is completed by a beautifully engraved plaque that list Ted’s many on-the-field accomplishments, not the least of which was his career batting average of .344.
