Five of baseball’s brightest stars of the late 1920’s lent their names to promote their favorite tobacco brand. These 11 by 20 inch signs served as miniature billboards on the interiors of trolley cars and buses. The full set of five pieces includes; "Tony Lazzeri - New York Yankees Star Infielder," Lloyd Waner - “Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Sensation 1927,” Paul Waner - “Voted N.L. Most Valuable Player 1927,” Bob “Lefty Grove” - Philadelphia Athletics Star Pitcher,” and Harry Heilmann - “Detroit Tigers World’s Leading Batter.” Today, those signs are widely considered to be among the most attractive and desirable baseball advertising display pieces ever produced. Each of these thin cardboard sign has benefited from some degree professional restoration. Framed. Excellent condition in appearance.
