Addendum: The catalog heading has changed. This is not a single singed baseball.

Julian Wera appeared in only 38 games for the Yankees in 1927 as Joe Dugan's back-up at third base. Though he batted only .238 with one home run and eight runs batted in, his presence on the roster earned him an ineffaceable place in baseball history. A product of the Yankee farm system, Wera played only five more games in the majors, all in 1929 for the Yankees. He owned a lifetime .278 average for 43 games but will forever be linked the indomitable 1927 Yankees.

While the Murderer's Row stars such as Ruth and Gehrig were regularly sought for autographs, a reserve such as Wera was rarely summoned. A rare exception appears in the form of this OAL (Harridge) baseball, with Wera's seldom seen signature on the sweet spot in blue ink. Another unknown autograph appears on an adjacent side panel, but Wera's signature displays as a single. The ball's heavy coat of shellac has preserved Wera's autograph at the 7/10 level.
