Clemente’s lean physique belied incredible strength that allowed him to wield such a large bat with seeming ease, sending line drives to the far reaches of Forbes Field and other National League Parks. His number “21” is written on the knob in faded black marker, and the hitting surface of the barrel exhibits heavy ball marks, cleat marks and rack marks.
