Exceptional razor sharp portrait of Mickey Mantle holding his Hillerich & Bradsby bat custom made for the 1959 All-Star Game. The Mick was at the height of his popularity in ’59 and was named to the two All-Star Games played that season. In this portrait, the grinning Yankees star poses before his locker holding two bats, one of which clearly displays the custom All-Star stamping on the bats H&B presented to the players selected to play in the Midsummer Classic. The Type 1 photo shows nice toning from age and displays minimal surface abrasions. The reverse carries the World Telegram & Sun stamp giving credit for this beautiful portrait to photographer William C. Greene. The photograph measures 8” x 10” and has been encapsulated and graded a Type 1 by PSA.
