After leading the Celtics to their fifth consecutive NBA championship in 1963, and sixth in seven years, the honors poured forth from Red Auerbach's admirers and appreciative fans. This impressive 18” tall trophy was presented to Red in 1963 from St. Augustines Parish of Lawrence, Mass. It features a figural brass basketball atop a wood base. An engraved plaque on the base features resounding words of praise that includes, “To 'Red' Auerbach The Greatest Coach in the Annals of Basketball History. World Champion Coach of the World Champion Celtics. No one more respected and loved by his team and no one more feared by his competitors - masterful throughout every moment of every game, he engenders confidence and an esprit d'corps and desire to win. As a token of our admiration please accept this well deserved tribute from St. Augustines Parich - Lawrence, Mass. November, 1963 - E.J. Carney O.S.A.” The trophy shows minimal wear and retains outstanding display quality. Includes a letter of provenance from the Auerbach estate.
