Selena Quintanilla Perez, more commonly known to her fans as just Selena, was an American singer, song writer, and fashion designer. Known for her bright smile, stunning voice, and one-of-a-kind style, she made millions fall in love with her. A great contributor to the Tejano Music genre, a mix of Mexican and US influences, she would later become know as the Queen of Tejano music. A bright star in the making, Selena became known for some of her greatest hits such as Como La Flor and Amor Prohibido and winning a Grammy in 1994 for Best Mexican/American album with Live, making it the first recording by a female artist to do so. Unfortunately, her tragic death on March 31, 1995, at the young age of 23, would halt the rising star.
