An outstanding one-of-a-kind die-cut advertising display featuring 2-time batting champion Al Simmons at the very height of his Hall of Fame career. Along with Jimmie Foxx and Mickey Cochrane, Al Simmons wielded one of the big bats that powered Connie Mack’s Philadelphia A’s to three consecutive pennants and back-to-back World Championships from 1929-31. An outstanding outfielder as well, Simmons is depicted in a fielder’s pose in this circa 1929-31 Draper & Maynard advertising sign. Artfully rendered in a colorful Art Deco style, Al Simmons is described as a “Worlds Series Star” and among the “109 other Big Leaguers” who use the No. G92 Draper & Maynard glove. Measuring 9” x 12” this die-cut display shows the expected edge wear from age. A portion of the printed surface of Simmons’ right cleat is missing and there are some surface abrasions visible. However, these conditions do not take away from the visual quality or extreme rarity of this piece. Professionally matted and framed with UV protective glass in colors and materials that accentuate the elegance of this piece.
