The 1920's and 1930's were the Golden Era of Nisei (Japanese-American) baseball in both the U.S. and Hawaii. During this period some of the best Nisei and Hawaiian teams journeyed to Japan to compete against top semi-pro and amateur Japanese teams. Interestingly, several of the Nisei and Hawaii teams included many non-Japanese players as well, and several of the players from these teams would eventually play pro ball in either the U.S. or Japan. This collection consists of approximately eighty-nine (89) photos from five 1920's-30's Japan tours by Nisei and Hawaiian baseball teams, over 50 of which are autographed. Teams (and players) included are: Aratani (Henry “Prince” Oana); L.A. Nippon (Andrew “Bucky” Harris McGalliard, Jimmy Crandall, Kazuyoshi “George” Matsuura, Yoshio Takahashi); Alameda Kono (Harry Hikotaro Kono); Honolulu Hawaii Braves (Jack Jakuchi, Charlie Luis, Adam Ornellas); and Hawaii Asahi (Jack Jakuchi, Jack Moriyama). Photos range in size from 2 1/4" by 3 1/8" to 3 1/4" by 4 1/2". Signatures average 8/10. LOAs from PSA/DNA and JSA.
