Baseball's all-time strikeout leader, Nolan Ryan was in many ways the most remarkable pitcher ever to play the game. Among the unprecedented milestones achieved throughout his 27-year career is a major-league record seven no-hitters. This ball was used in the last of those no-hit games, pitched by Ryan on May 1st, 1991 against the Toronto Blue Jays. The seventh no-hitter of his amazing career may have been the best. It was certainly the most rewarding, according to Ryan, because it came at Arlington Stadium on Fan Appreciation night, and was considered by him to be a special gift to the home fans. Obtained in person by a UPI reporter covering the game, this OAL (Brown) ball exhibits appropriate use, and is notated in the Hall of Fame strike out king's hand, "7th No-Hitter, Nolan Ryan, 5/1/91." Collectors should note that most of the small supply of other known balls from this game were signed by Ryan but notated by the game's umpires. The fact that it is Ryan himself who hand writes the details of the historic event sets this example apart from, and above, the rest. Includes a LOA from UPI writer. Additional LOA from PSA/DNA.
