Derek Jeter’s farewell season brought the Yankee faithful and baseball fans alike many special moments to put a seal on his storied career. One of these came on July 22, 2014 when the Yankees hosted the Texas Rangers. For three weeks, Jeter had been stuck on 534 doubles and tied with Lou Gehrig for most in team history. In the bottom of the 9th inning facing Rangers reliever Neal Cotts, "El Capitán" pulled one down the left field line and coasted into 2nd base for #535 to eclipse "The Iron Horse." How fitting the clutch-hitting shortstop that his record-breaking double came in the bottom of the 9th in a scoreless tie. Jeter was left stranded, but the Bronx Bombers eventually won it in the 14th inning 2-1 on a Chase Headley walk-off home run. Derek Jeter retired as the Yankees all-time leader in hits, games played, at bats, plate appearances, stolen bases, singles and doubles. This extraordinary lot features Jeter’s game-worn home uniform as well as the actual 2nd base bag from that special game and moment. Jeter has beautifully autographed the jersey, pants and the base, each of which comes with impeccable authentication from MLB and Steiner. This is the first time any of these historic pieces have hit the auction block.

The white Yankees home pinstripe #2 jersey is properly labeled by Majestic on the left shirttail with "2014" and size "46" flag tags. Just below the manufacturer's tagging is a "New York Yankees" serial numbered (4615) sticker. Minor dirt smudges front and back indicate solid game use. Jeter's autograph in shiny silver Sharpie adorns the navy tackle twill number on the back. The matching home pants from Majestic are labeled "35-40 36 OB '13" inside the waistband and show excellent game use with light soiling, most noticeable on the left upper thigh. Jeter has signed that area in blue marker. The 2nd base bag from Yankee Stadium is marked in blue on the bottom "7/22/14 2nd BASE 7th-14th" indicating it was used during Jeter's milestone double as well as Headley's walk-off homer. The Schutt-made base is labeled "New York Yankees" and "2014 OUR HISTORY YOUR TRADITION" on opposing sides. Jeter has signed the top in beautiful black Sharpie.

MLB Authentication: HZ164747 for jersey; HZ164748 for pants; HZ164750 for base. Each item also comes with a full Steiner LOA and COA card for the autograph.
