During the 1979 NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams posted a 9-7 regular-season record and made an improbably run to the Super Bowl where they fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It would take the franchise 20 more years, and a move to St. Louis, before the Rams returned to the NFL’s big dance. This lot features a pair of game worn Los Angeles Rams jerseys from the 1980’s that were donned by linebacker Mel Owens and placekicker Mike Lansford.

Owens wore his Rams jersey (No. 58) during the early ‘80s. The white mesh jersey sports the Rams iconic blue-and-yellow sleeves, with his uniform number “58” painted in navy blue on the front, back and on both sleeves. A pair of proper Medalist Sand-Knit manufacturer’s labels appears on the front left tail. The first reads “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Los Angeles Rams,” while the second reveals [size] “50.” The jersey reveals some team repairs and Owens’ last name is shown across the shoulders in similar navy blue fashion on top of a white, sewn-on nameplate.

Lansford, the team's reliable field goal kicker, wore uniform number “1” during the late ‘80s. Made of 100% nylon mesh, the white jersey also has the Rams iconic colors on the sleeves albeit with a darker yellow/orange tinge. The proper “Russell Athletic” [size] “46” manufacturer’s tag appears on the left front tail complete with washing instructions. His uniform number “1” appears on the front, back and on both sleeves painted on in navy blue, as is his last name – “LANSFORD” – across the shoulders on top of a white sewn-on nameplate. Lansford signed the back of the lightly worn jersey and added “#1” in blue fine-point marker.
