NBA superstar LeBron James served for several years as an exclusive
spokesman for Upper Deck. His contract started in June of
2003, when he was taken by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the number one
overall pick in the NBA Draft. This lot features a limited-edition
(#1/50), LeBron James signed and inscribed “TEAM USA” Throwback Style
Jersey commemorating the United States’ “Original Dream Team” that
competed at the 1960 Summer Olympic Games in Rome. Italy.
The white polyester Nike jersey (size 52) reads “USA” arched across
the front in navy blue tackle twill outlined in red with James’ uniform
number “6” positioned immediately below in similar tackle twill fashion.
Proper USA Basketball and Nike manufacturer’s tagging appears on the
front left tail with a pair of flag tags reading “AUTHENTIC” and “LENGTH
+2.” The reverse side of the jersey shows “JAMES” across the back in
blue tackle twill outlined in red, followed by his uniform number “6” in
similar tackle twill fashion. “USA BASKETBALL” red, white and blue
embroidered patch appears on the rear outside collar. James has signed
the number “6” on the back of the jersey in silver paint pen and added
the inscription “TEAM USA.” The inside back of the jersey reveals
special gold print that commemorates the 1960 “Original Dream team”
complete with the scores of each of their eight undefeated games that
year.
